Former Time Team man leads village dig
Saturday’s dig at the Railway Inn in Station Road was part of a five-year project in Sandford and Winscombe which has been attempting to unearth facts about the history of the two villages.
The project, run in association with the Winscombe and Sandford Local History and Archaeology Society and with the work largely done by local volunteers, has previously unearthed evidence of a medieval settlement.
The team’s findings are published yearly, and will be compiled into a book at the end of the project.
